Jeepney at the top of Lidenhof hill, Zurich, Switzerland
Driven by my curiosity and Switzerland’s stereotype as “the happiest place on earth” and “armed neutrality during world war” made me want to visit this amazing country since I was high school in the Philippines. My three days visit in Switzerland made me appreciate it more. My first stop is Zurich, the city that is part of the Swiss Confederation, a federal republic in Europe.
Here are some pointers and to do lists if you are planning to explore Zurich, Switzerland that lies in the heart of Europe and at the center of Switzerland, on the northern shores of Lake Zurich.
Getting Around in Zurich: The simplest way to get around is by foot together with the public transport vehicles. Transportation such as Trams, bus and trains in Zurich in our experience, was always on time. What amazed me is that, everything in Zurich is so organized so you do not need to worry so much in your rides. Visit transportation guide from

Sail in Zurichsee Water, water everywhere: a dip in Lake Zurich or the River Limmat belongs just as much to Zurich as a ride in a pedal boat or a mild evening in one of the lakeside Badi-Bars. Sail in Zurichsee and drink your Swiss hot chocolate!
Go to swiss alps and other peaks: Remember that the Heidi movie was taken in the famous swiss alps. Switzerland is so marvelous, beautiful and clean. If you are in Zurich, don’t forget to go and hike to Uetliberg and Zurich Zoo where you can see the overview of the city center of Zurich. It will only take minutes if you will take trains/ trams.
Visit the Castles, houses and architecture. This are also a must see in Switzerland!
Don’t miss the Swiss cheese, clean tap water and swiss chocolates!
It is safe to drink tap water in Zurich, there’s a water faucet everywhere in the city. Don’t forget to have some traditional swiss cheese dinner and the taste of real delicious chocolates. This will definitely melt your heart.
Pass the busy streets of Zurich Every big city in Europe has a Bahnhofstrasse (station street) but Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse become world famous. It’s the main downtown street and one of the world’s most expensive and exclusive shopping avenues. In 2011, a study named the Bahnhofstrasse the most expensive street for retail property in Europe, and the third most expensive worldwide.
Witness the magnificent Rhine Falls (German: Rheinfall) is the largest plain waterfall in Europe. The falls are located on the High Rhine on the border between the cantons of Schaffhausen and Zürich.
There’s a lot of places to visit and activities to try such as: museums, parks, bars, pubs, restaurants, churches and etc. But don’t forget, Zurich is a very wonderful and expensive city. So better plan your budget and look for the best accommodation and restaurant that fits your budget and interests!
For the jeepney, it is a dream come true! ❤
