A Day Trip in Bavaria, Germany

The beauty of Königssee, Germany’s most beautiful Alpine Lake

Königssee is one of the most majestic places in Europe.  It mixes the power of the Alps peaks and beauty of Norwegian fjords into one amazing lake. This area has been used for outdoor recreation for centuries; Bavarian royalty and the local rulers of Berchtesgaden and Salzburg hunted here. Hitler went boating on the lake, and Eva Braun liked to sunbathe on the shore.

How to get there:

Time From Salzburg: 45 minutes by bus; 30 minute by taxi; or 1 hour 25 minute bytrain.
Time From Munich: 2 hour 45 minute train ride.
Bus Timetable From Salzburg: Bus 840 (Summer, Winter).  I highly recommend you to install Salzburg transportation app: Qando Salzburg for time tables and travels. Train Timetables: German Bahn website HERE or Austrian OEBB website HERE.

A boat trip on the Königssee is well worth considering. A 35-minute journey to St Bartolemä costs €14.50 return.
